Lift pass required for all ski lesson participants

Choose a ski pass

Please note: A lift pass is mandatory for all children and adults enrolled in ski lessons (not the Piou Piou Club) and is not included in the lesson price.
  • All students must have a valid lift pass from the first day of lessons.
  • Exception: Beginner teen and adult group lessons do not require a pass at the beginning of the week (check with the esf office). However, a full-week pass is often cheaper than buying daily tickets.
  • Children under 5 are entitled to a free lift pass, available at the lift ticket office upon presentation of proof of age.

Where to buy your lift pass?
  1. Directly on our website after adding your lessons to the cart. Reduced-price ski passes are available for Ourson and Flocon levels when purchased at the same time as group ski lessons. All other ski passes are sold at the same price as those sold in resort.
  2. Val Cenis is the first ski resort in France to offer dynamic pricing, with discounts of up to 70% off standard lift pass prices when bought in advance online (link below).
  3. At the Val Cenis lift ticket offices.

Carré neige insurance

esf Val Cenis students are not insured by the ski school. It is therefore essential to ensure that your personal insurance covers ski activities, or to take out a dedicated ski insurance policy.

esf Val Cenis has chosen Carré Neige as its partner to provide insurance coverage for all its clients, and offers the option to subscribe at the time of booking your ski lessons.

This insurance gives you access to comprehensive coverage and assistance in the event of an accident during your stay.

Tips and preparation

To ensure your lesson runs smoothly:
  • esf does not provide insurance for its students. Please make sure your personal insurance covers skiing, and take out ski insurance if needed.
  • The ski pass is not included in the lesson price and is mandatory in most cases (see "choose a ski pass").
  • Come with appropriate clothing and gear: ski jacket, hat, mittens or gloves, sunglasses or goggles, sunscreen, and tissues.
  • Equipment is not included in the lesson. If you're unsure about which skis or snowboard to choose, let the rental shop know what activity you’ll be doing. You can also contact the ski school for advice.
  • Wearing a helmet is not compulsory but strongly recommended.
  • For snowshoe or ski touring outings, dress in three layers: a breathable base layer, a fleece or warm mid-layer, and a windproof outer shell. You’ll warm up quickly during the activity but cool down just as fast when stopped.
  • If you book online or by phone, you will receive e-tickets or confirmation by email. Please print this at home and present it to your instructor at the start of the lesson.
  • If you don’t have your lesson card, make sure to place a name and contact number in your pocket or your child's, so the instructor can reach you if necessary.
Lesson Organisation:
  • Punctuality at the start of lessons is important out of respect for everyone.
  • 5- or 6-day packages are held on consecutive days.
  • Weather conditions, lift breakdowns, or other unforeseen events are beyond the school's control. In the event of lesson cancellations outside our control, no refunds will be issued.

Advice for parents

Our tips to help your child get the most out of their ski lessons:
  • Dress them properly: ski jacket, hat or cap, mittens, sunglasses or goggles, sunscreen, and tissues. Make sure your child is well protected according to the weather conditions.
  • Avoid following the lessons or calling out to your child during class—it can distract them and disrupt the group.
  • Wearing a helmet is highly recommended for children on the slopes.
  • Let the instructors decide if a change of group level is necessary—they’re trained to assess progress.
  • Remember: your child is on vacation! The goal is for them to enjoy themselves and want to come back. Respect their pace and don’t push to make them a champion too soon.
  • Put your mobile phone number in their pocket, just in case the instructor needs to reach you.
